Opening Night: The Shrimp & Grits Taste-Off!

February 24, 2010

6:00PM - 10:00PM

Shrimp & Grits is viewed as a staple of African-American cuisine. There are festivals dedicated to this one dish, entire cookbooks filled with recipes to enjoy this dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and it’s also a dish featured at many Southern, soul food-inspired restaurants around the world. To open the Ninth Annual San Francisco Black History Month Celebration’s Wine & Food Event, we feature some of the Bay Area’s top chefs’ and soul food restaurants’ contributions to this wonderful dish for you to sample, savor and enjoy.

Join David Lawrence of 1300 on Fillmore (San Francisco), Michael Law of the Front Porch (San Francisco), Dean Dupuis of Pican (Oakland), Bryant Terry of Vegan Soul Kitchen, Peter Jackson of Miss Pearl’s Jam House (Oakland), Michele Wilson of Gussie’s Chicken & Waffles (San Francisco) and others, as they kick-off 5 delicious days of food, wine and entertainment at The Shrimp & Grits Taste-Off! Wine tastings included on two floors!
